When I was in West Africa, all the things I’ve done so far today are not possible. I got up in the morning and I opened a bottle of water? Not possible. I slept on a bed with clean sheets? Unlikely. I put on clothes that had been washed in the washing machine? Not possible. You know, when you go to these places, you realize that we live in extraordinary privilege.
当我在西非时，所有现在我能做的事，在西非都不可能。早上起床开一瓶水？没可能。睡在整洁的床上？不现实。穿上机洗的衣服？想都别想。当你去过这样的地方后，你会意识到自己有多幸运。

UNICEF is committed to helping babies get inoculated against disease, helping train mothers to know how to breast feed, helping make sure that they have access to clean water to drink, helping that they have sustainable agriculture…Combating terrible FGM that’s rife all over the continent. I’m very proud to stand with them in that fight.

What we’re engaged in is trying to distill whatever aspect of the human condition is appropriate for the story and present it. I’ve always thought of acting as a kind of extra dimensional anthropology, by which I mean we’re in the business of people. People interest me. What motivates them? What inspires them? What makes them happy? What makes them sad? And we’re all united by it. We’re all united by these feelings that we all feel at different times.
我们要做的就是尽量提炼出人性的某方面特质，以贴合整个故事，然后演绎出来。我一直把演戏看作是异次元的人类学。也就是说我们在经营人性。我对人类感兴趣。人们被什么激励鼓舞？因何事快乐伤心？不同情境下的种种感同身受，维系了我们所有人。

The reason I became an actor is because I sat in the cinema audience, and also in the audiences of the theater. And I love it when you go to see something, and you enter as an individual and you leave as a group. Because you’ve all been bound together by that same experience.
我成为演员，是因为我也曾坐在观众席里，不论影院或是剧院。观影观剧之后，走出门你已不再是一个人。因为所有观众都被同样的情感体验联系在了一起。
